About our founder
Born on 25 April 1954 in Oslo Norway. George Robertson displayed a natural affinity for nature from an early age. His passion for the outdoors, coupled with a strong work ethic and an ambition to make a difference, would eventually see him rise through the ranks to become a prominent CEO in the lumberjack industry.
George grew up in an environment deeply connected to the forest, where timber was the lifeline of the local economy. From an early age, he embraced the traditions of his ancestors, learning about the importance of sustainable forestry and the meticulous art of harvesting timber. He spent his childhood accompanying close people around him into the woods, observing and learning the intricacies of the craft.
His excellent academic performance throughout high school earned him a scholarship to the prestigious University of Oslo, where he pursued a degree in Forestry and Business management During his time at university, George developed a keen interest in the intersection of business and sustainability, recognizing the immense potential for positive change in the lumber industry. He excelled academically, leaving an indelible mark through extensive research on sustainable forestry practices.
Upon graduating in 1979, armed with his newfound knowledge and the conviction to make a difference, George joined a local logging company as a forestry technician. His exceptional work ethic, coupled with an innate ability to lead and inspire others, quickly caught the attention of his superiors. Within a few years, he rose through the ranks, assuming positions of greater responsibility within the company.
George’ exceptional performance did not go unnoticed, and it wasn't long before he was headhunted by a larger lumber company based in Oslo. As he moved up the corporate ladder, he continually pushed for sustainable practices, advocating for responsible logging and reforestation initiatives. His unique combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and unwavering commitment to environmental preservation made him a formidable force in the industry.
In 2001 George seized the opportunity to establish his own company, GPower Forestry with a vision of revolutionizing the lumber industry. Deploying cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices, he transformed GPower Forestry into a trailblazer for responsible logging. Under his astute leadership, the company flourished, gaining recognition not only within Norway but also on an international stage.
